Charles and Frances McNurlin Tolliver of Hitchins will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 10, 2009.

The couple were married by Ralph Tromble at the Hitchins Wesleyan Church where the bride’s father was the pastor.

Charles is retired from AK Steel and served in the army at the end of WWII. He went to business school after he was released from service and ran a small restaurant called Brud’s. Later he learned the trade of brick mason and worked at General Refractories and Armco Steel.

Frances attended Morehead State University for a brief time and then went to work for General Refractories. She was employed with them for more than 14 years until she left to work at home.

They have one daughter, Gloria Tolliver, and a host of friends and family

They will be honored by a cake reception at the Hitchins Community Club at 7 p.m. Monday. Everyone is welcome; the couple ask gifts be omitted.
