Jim and Loy Stites celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception Aug. 30, 2008, at Old Orchard Christian Church. The event was hosted by their children.
They were married Aug. 30, 1958, at Old Orchard Church of Christ.
They are both retired teachers from Jefferson County, Ky. Jim retired in 2002 after 42 years at Butler High School and Loy retired in 1997 after 27 years.
Jim is the son of the late Raymond and Marcella Stites.
Joan Loy grew up in Ashland and is the daughter of the late Chester and Lottie Hale.
They are members of Old Orchard Christian Church and enjoy family activities and church worship and fellowship.
The couple met at Morehead State College.
They are the parents of Ken and Janet of Greenville, Ind., Karen and Darrin of Alliance, Ohio, and Mike and Susan, and Michelle, all of Louisville, Ky., and have four grandchildren, Charlotte and James of Alliance and Shelby and Lexie of Greenville.
