William “Bill” and Carolyn Qualls celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 28, 2009, with a reception, followed by a renewal of their wedding vows at the Ashland Plaza Hotel. The celebration was hosted by their children.
They both had long and destinguished careers in public service to this area.
Bill retired from the Boyd County EMS and was a member in the first paramedic unit in Kentucky.
Carolyn was a retired teacher with 28 years of service, with Ashland Independent Schools at Paul G. Blazer High School, where she taught Latin, French and English. She is the former Carolyn Bevins.
They are the parents of Ann Qualls of Catlettsburg and Curt Qualls of Jeffersonville, Ind., and his wife, the late Robin Qualls.
The couple are helping to raise their six-year-old grand-nephew, Eli, who has been a part of their household whenever possible since he was six months old.
