Blevins


Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Baxter Blevins celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 2, 2010, with a dinner reception at the Kenova Church of God social hall. Their children hosted the event.

They were married on Dec. 24, 1949, in Verdunville, W.Va., and they have lived in this area for 52 years.

He retired from Houdaille Industries and started Blevins Electric. He is still working there as an electrician, along with his son.

She is the former Olive Hall. She was a switchboard operator at Logan’s Mercy General Hospital, but her most important role has been homemaker for her family.

They are both members of Kenova Church of God and have served in Port Au Prince, Haiti, for five and a half years helping the building of churches, through their missions department of the church. She remains a homemaker to her extended family.

They are the parents of Baxter Ray Blevins of Milton, W.Va., and Sherry Blevins Russell of Catlettsburg and they have seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
