CATLETTSBURG —
Dean and Sarah Akers celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on July 23.
The couple were married on July 23, 1977, at the home of the groom’s father in Catlettsburg.
Mr. Akers was a Catlettsburg police officer for 33 years and retired on Feb. 28, 2011, as assistant chief. He attends Catlettsburg Church of God and is the son of Ann Akers and the late Jell Akers.
Mrs. Akers is the owner of Cuttin-Up Salon in Catlettsburg. She attends Catlettsburg Church of God and is the daughter of the late Grandville Preston and Tennie Hamm.
