John Henry Thompson Jr. and Patricia Ann Tufts Thompson were wed on Friday, Nov. 13, 1959, at Meade Station Church of God. They have celebrated their anniversary with a trip to Siesta Keys, Fla., and the Western Caribbean.
They have two children together, Richard Thompson (Tish) of Ironton and Margaret Bowman (Mark) of Greenup. They have three grandchildren, David Thompson of Ashland and Addison Young and Blake Young, both of Lexington; and three step-grandchildren, Lindsay Bowman and Paige Bowman, both of Flatwoods and Steven Martin of Ironton; one great-grandchild, Xavier Thompson; and a very special girl in their lives, Shelby Shamblin.
They have lived in Summit for the last 50 years and they have a wonderful life together. They enjoy their family and friends.
He is the son of the late John Henry Thompson and Braunda Thompson of Ashland. He retired from the International Engineers Local 181, formerly worked for Dinaco Construction and Lowman Construction and he owns his own business, Thompson Excavating. He is a member of The Masons, El Hasa Shrine Temple and Rush Lodge. He has one brother, Charles Thompson (Leslie) and two sisters, the late Sherri Thompson and Lesa Crum (Camron).
She is the daughter of the late Paul Tufts and Wanda Hackworth Tufts Scott. She has one brother, James Tufts (Janie) of Ironton. She is well-known for her terrific cooking and being an outstanding mother and caretaker.
They both are members of the Meade Station Church of God.
