ASHLAND —
Emmett and Eugenia “Jean” Taylor Hatfield of Ashland, formerly of Mingo County, W.Va., celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Aug. 13, 2012, with a family gathering at their home in Ashland.
The couple were married Aug. 13, 1942, at the Pike County Court House in Pikeville by the Rev. J.C. Wright.
The Hatfields have four children, Marie Hatfield of Flatwoods, Rodney (Judy) Hatfield of Flatwoods, Rick (Becky) Hatfield of Ashland and Rhonda Zuhars of Ashland. They have six grandsons; one granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Hatfield, the son of the late Taylor and Minnie Jane Davis Hatfield, served in the Medical Corps of the armed forces during WWII and retired in 1988 from Ashland Oil. Mrs. Hatfield, daughter of the late Frederick and Sarah Taylor, is a homemaker. They have lived in Ashland since 1953.
