3 arrested on burglary charges

CANNONSBURG —

Three were arrested early Saturday morning on burglary charges, according to a release from the Boyd County Sheriff's Department.

Sharon F. Kitchen, 18, and William S. Bailey, 19, both of Ashland, and Zachary S. Stevens, 20 and from Flatwoods were arrested on third-degree burglary charges after they were observed prowling early Saturday morning around a woman's home along Ky. 5.

A neighbor saw them and called the victim, who then called 911. Another neighbor heard prowlers, got his handgun and used it to hold the suspects at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived. Bailey fled on foot, but the other two stayed until deputies arrived.

Kitchen's charges also include possession marijuana and possession of burglary tools.

The victim reported that bolt cutters were used to cut a lock on the home's outbuilding.
