ASHLAND —
Most coupons are for specific things and specific numbers of things. “Good on any” is one of my favorites. Then there are buy one, buy 2, buy 10; buy one, get one free, is a favorite of mine. It might be for a specific size.
When making your detailed list for the store, be sure to read your coupons. This makes sure it is for the correct item, correct size, correct number of products that must be bought to use this coupon. Check the date. Is it expired?
Your coupon circulars have names, including Proctor and Gambill, Redplum and SmartSource. See if you can find the names of your coupon circulars when they come in Sundays newspaper. This is important if you want to use websites for printable coupons or find where the coupon is.
If I look on a website called “Pursuit of Savings” by Rebecca Davidson and she tells of something I can get for free at WalMart, I have to know how to read the lingo. She might put something like this: AquaFresh Extreme Clean Toothpaste 0.8 oz. 0.97, use $1/1 RP. This lets me know the coupon for AquaFresh is in the RedPlum circular this month and it is free. The toothpaste has to be a certain size — 0.8 oz in this case — and there is a $1 coupon in the RedPlum circular, making it totally free. It might say something like “coupon network.com” or “coupons.com,” or Face book, Proctor and Gambill = P&G, SmartSource = SS.” These websites let you search by store for the great deals this week. Make lists or print-outs of the great deals, then hunt your coupons and hit the stores.
This week’s fun deals: WalMart $2/1 Bic Mark-It Permanent Markers 8 pack — $1.36.
Scotch Brite Wipes — .81 cents with coupon Use BOGO free Scotch Brite Wipes coupon
AquaFresh Toothpaste — $1 coupon Free
Bayer Aspirin — $2.22 Use $3 coupon Money-Maker
Tetley Tea — $2.12 50 cent coupon, $1.62
Quantum Dish Detergent — $2.97, 75 cent coupon: $2.22
Oil of Olay Bar Soap — $2.57 Coupon, $3 off two, and $1. You can use two coupons because two items are going through the register.
Walmart is the only store I know of that will give you cash back if you find a money maker or it will, in my case, take the money off of my order. That was pretty fun to buy the Bayer Aspirin and get paid to come get it.

15 drops lavender essential oil

Combine ingredients in a spray bottle (Dollar Store has them) and fill with water. Mix well and spray away. This is so much safer than DEET products.

Carrie Stambaugh: Summer fun with sunscreen: 05/24/13
Summer vacation season is upon us. Many families across the area, including my own, are already counting down the minutes until their beach vacations. I admit, thoughts of white sand and blue-green waves, cold beer and raw oysters have been dominating my day dreams for the last few weeks.

John Cannon: After 2 years, planned vacation finally taken: 05/22/13
It was a trip to Minneapolis that my wife and I had been planning for more than two years. But since our journey to Minnesota was a leisurely one, we took our time for side trips: a Cincinnati Reds game; a visit to the graves of my parents, paternal grandparents and an aunt and uncle in a small cemetery near Jeffersonville, Ohio; a mini-family reunion at my niece’s home near New Holland, Ohio; a drive to Warsaw, Ind., to help my wife climb her family tree on her father’s side.
