A recent story in The Independent told of Boyd County receiving coal severance grant money. The announcement was made by Sen. Walter Blevins and Rep. Rocky Adkins.

Sanitation District No. 2 of Boyd County, which serves the Westwood area, was very fortunate to receive a $500,000 grant, and we board members express our heartfelt thanks to Senator Blevins and Representative Adkins.

The story didn’t mention John VIncent, who represents the 100th District that includes the Westwood/Fairview area and who we know had a big part in our district getting this grant. We know Representative Vincent is retiring as our representative and wish him well as he enjoys more time with his family.

Again, many thanks to Walter, Rocky and John for what they have done for the Westwood/Fairview area.

James A. Lakin, chairman, George Stout, treasurer, Rick Tackett, secretary, Sanitation District No. 2
