Words of Thanks — 08/08/09

On behalf of The Greater Ashland Area U.K. Alumni Club, I thank the students and their parents who attended our Senior Send-Off on Sunday, July 19. We had a great time and had the privilege of meeting several outstanding students from this area. We had students from Ashland Blazer, Boyd County, Lawrence County, Greenup, Russell, Raceland-Worthington, and East Carter high schools.

We thank the local businesses that contributed items to give away to these students: John W. Clark Oil Company, John Stewart, Ashland Wal-Mart, Cannonsburg Wal-Mart, Chick Fil-A, Hilma Harned, Kennedy Bookstore, and the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.

I also thank First United Methodist Church on Carter Avenue for hosting this event. I thank all of the alumni who attended. We wish all of these students well in their higher education at U.K.

Janice Christian, Past President, Greater Ashland U.K. Alumni Association

Flatwoods Lions Club thanks all who helped make our hamburger fry a success.

First, thanks go to Marshall Hensley and Pennington’s Food Fair in Flatwoods for their donation, the space and their support, and to Wrights Funeral Home for the use of its tent.

I thank our club members, Tim Hunt and to all who stopped by just to say hello, help out and purchase a hamburger. Our Lions Club can help others because of the support of our community.

I was recently a patient on pediatrics at King’s Daughters Medical Center for almost four weeks.

First, I thank Chad Allen, nurse manager on pediatrics, and his staff for the wonderful and professional care that was given me. Not only did the staff make me feel welcome, but it also made my family feel welcome.

I have been a patient on other units before, but this was my most positive experience. KDMC should be proud of pediatrics. I would recommend pediatrics to anyone who has to be in the hospital.
