Webb has deep love of outdoors
If you’re an outdoors person like myself, I ask you to give special consideration to Robin Webb for state Senate on Aug. 25.
I have known Robin Webb for the past 35 years and can vouch for her love of the outdoors. Whether it be on the lake or in the woods, our area of the state needs to do more to both promote and protect our excellent hunting and fishing opportunities. I believe Robin is the only candidate who can do this.
For years her father, Dr. Robert C. Webb, protected and promoted the outdoor recreational opportunities that we have to offer here in northeastern Kentucky and I would like to see that tradition continue for many years to come. If you are an individual who enjoys the outdoors then you should consider Robin Webb as your next senator.

Guy Gibbons gives voters a choice
Two parties usually receive top billing in most elections in our country. While this may simplify the decisions for many voters, it may also favor only those with more money and more connections.
We often do not read or hear from candidates who may be just as capable and talented — or more so. As consumers, we like more choices when visiting the grocery store, and it would seem natural to extend those desires to having more choices among those who are running for public office.
In the current special election in the 18th District, I have read of only two candidates, yet there is a third most worthy resident running for that Senate seat: Guy Gibbons, a lifelong resident who has personally experienced the ups and downs of our area, its needs and economy. He is a fine citizen and would make an excellent senator. Please consider casting your vote toward him!

Ditty has record of getting it done
I’m writing in response to the unbelievable ads regarding the 18th District of the Kentucky Senate.
Dr. Jack Ditty worked five jobs to put himself through his medical educational training. He is well respected for his involvement in community events. He implemented and coached soccer teams in Boyd County, Russell and other schools and has the respect of all for his mentorship. He has a successful solo practice with eight employees and a proven record of “getting the job done.”
His show “Your Health with Dr. Ditty” provides the community he loves with significant health care information from area physicians. He successfully brought and organized the OLBH Tennis Classic to Ashland, another example of “getting the job done.”
Dr. Ditty has many children and adults with Medicaid in his practice. The fact is, a physician’s hands are tied when it comes to Medicaid, which has low reimbursement. A lot of physicians have had to limit the patients they see with Medicaid or close their doors.
Dr. Ditty is a wonderful person with a good heart. He has seen many patients in need at no cost, including a young man I know with cancer who had no insurance and an allergic reaction to chemotherapy. In regards to health care, who better to represent the people than a physician as caring, informed and knowledgeable as Dr. Ditty?
I have known Dr. Ditty for over 14 years and I have never known him to take on something he did not feel in his heart was right. Dr. Ditty is already known as a caring physician, but he should be also known as an advocate for the people, young and old alike.

Reader appalled by Webb’s ads
While I am not a resident of Kentucky, I am absolutely appalled by the advertising of Robin Webb. I don’t know how anyone could vote for her with the tactics she is using in her campaign.
The straw that just broke the camel’s back was the commercial I just heard on TV talking about Dr. Ditty and commenting on the car he drives. So what! He’s a medical doctor and certainly has paid his dues.
I think it is terrible the way she has talked about Dr. Jack Ditty. He’s a fine doctor and a fine person. Shame on Robin Webb for her tactics. She must really be desperate for votes.
Why doesn't she just stick to her platform and tell us what she hopes to accomplish if she is elected instead of spending all her campaign money running down someone else? I certainly wouldn't vote for anyone who plays such dirty politics.

Church to present inspiring drama
Have you ever made a bad choice in your life? Maybe you turned left when you should have turned right and drove 50 miles in the wrong direction. You can turn around and correct your mistake. The trip will be a lot longer, but you will eventually get to where you meant to go. But have you ever thought about the last journey of your life?
You’ve made a lot of choices here on earth — some good and some bad. Some have brought you much joy and others have caused you great pain. When you take your last breath, what will happen to you? Where will you be? Did you make the right choice that will lead to heaven or did you make the wrong choice that will lead to the eternal flames of hell?
Once you get there you can't turn around and go back like you did when you made a wrong turn while driving. You’ll be there forever. My hope and prayer is that you have chosen or will choose Jesus before you draw your last breath of life.
The drama “Heaven Gates and Hell’s Flames” will be presented at Temple Baptist Church in Flatwoods at 6 p.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Although the actors and churches have varied, this drama has been seen all across the world. Many lives have been changed because of the message of this play. We at Temple Baptist hope you will join us for this inspiring presentation.
