On behalf of the Hager Elementary’s National Junior Beta Club, we thank Hillcrest-Bruce Mission for giving us the opportunity to help our community.
On Wednesday, Oct. 7, 28 Junior Beta Club members traveled to the Mission and read with preschoolers, painted pumpkins, and set up and helped with a mini-Fall Festival for the children. The 28 members also helped decorate treat bags for elderly women, organized a food pantry and clothing closet, and baked yummy treats. We had a great day!
Our club thanks Hillcrest Bruce Mission and iExecutive Director Cyndi Downing, Physical Needs Coordinator Toni Nattier and Preschool teachers Janet Hogg, and Pamela Perry for organizing the projects during our day. We thank them for being our service partner and, for all they let us do!

I attend a special church here in Ashland. It’s the 21st Street Tabernacle on Greenup Avenue.
Our pastor is Rick Porter. We are all like family in this church. We celebrate with others when a special day comes up.
I have been writing poetry since I was 11. Our church family really enjoys my poetry.
I thank everyone in our church for the special celebration they gave me this past Sunday, Oct. 25.
I will be forever grateful.
Mary Kay Adams, Ashland
