Words of Thanks — 11/07/09

CASA expresses thanks to all the students, parents, faculty and staff of Ashland, Boyd County, Russell and Fairview schools for their participation in our annual Pennies from Heaven Campaign. The effort that is made by all involved is truly beneficial to the children in foster care of Boyd County.

Also special thank yous go to the event sponsors for their help in rewarding the students for their generosity; Ashland Papa John’s, McDonalds, The Gallaher Group, Town Square, Citizens and Community Trust banks and the CASA staff/volunteers who worked to make the event a success.

Kentucky leads the nation in its rate of children’s deaths involving abuse or neglect, reported a study by Every Child Matters Education Fund. Currently, there are approximately 600 children in foster care in Kentucky. Be active in the solution to the problem of child abuse in our own community. Together we can make a difference.

Carol Polley, Executive director, CASA of Northeast Kentucky
