On using taxes for abortions and war

I will support those who do not want their tax money used for abortions which stop a beating heart in the womb, if they will support me in not wanting my tax money used for war which stops a beating heart after it has left the womb.

Veterans Day tribute was stirring

I thank American Legion Post 76 for its wonderful tribute to the veterans. It was so nice to see how precious our flag is to the many men and women who have served our country. It was an honor to me to be able to join them on Veterans Day.

When the national anthem was played, every hat was removed and hands were on every heart facing our beloved flag. We prayed for the service men and women who are serving in the war now, and the families who have lost their loved ones.

To see the veterans like John Spears, who was at Pearl Harbor, standing there saluting the flag brought tears to my eyes. No one was ashamed to bow their heads in prayer. We were honored.

We all joined hands in unison to sing along with Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.” I felt especially proud to hold my father’s hand. Having Dad on one side and Mr. Spears on the other made me appreciate how lucky I am to live in this great country.

Freedom is not free, and we should thank a veteran every chance we get. I am proud to be a part of the American Legion. I am proud to be an American but, most of all, I’m proud to be my father’s daughter.

Business partners vital to center

I recognize and thank the faculty and staff at the KY Tech-Greenup County Area Technology Center for their efforts in conducting this year’s annual steering committee meeting. Each year these individuals go above and beyond to garner support for the programs offered at their school. This year’s meeting was led by Principal Marsha Martin.

Our local school district and business partners are essential to the overall success of KY Tech-Greenup County and I thank all of those who took time from their busy schedules to attend.

On behalf of the KY Tech-Greenup County ATC, I personally thank Rep. Tanya Pullin for her participation in and support of technical education and skills training programs offered at the school. We were able to briefly talk about how difficult it is to manage in tough economic times with limited state budget resources.
