Walk/run will fight hunger
RACELAND - A fundraising 5K run/walk for River Cities Harvest will be at 9 a.m. July 7 at Raceland-Worthington High School.
Registration will be at 8 a.m. and the cost is $25. Those who preregister will receive discounts as will groups of eight or more.

Applicants sought for grief camp
HUNTINGTON - Hospice of Huntington will host its third annual Camp Good Grief Family Retreat on Oct. 13, giving families an opportunity to learn how to support each other and cope with their own grief during the loss of a loved one.
The retreat will be at Camp Ona. Applications are being accepted. The camp is open to all.
There is a nonrefundable charge of $25 per family to register; scholarships are available.

Kennel Club dog show July 7, 8
HUNTINGTON - The Huntington Kennel club will have its free 91st and 92nd All-Breed Dog Show with obedience trials and rally trials on July 7 and 8 at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.
Events begin at 8:30 a.m., with judging in the afternoon after individual breeds are completed. Only pre-entered dogs or dogs attending the microchip clinic Saturday will be in the show.

Children treated to free movies
CANNONSBURG - As part of the free movie series at the Kyova 10 Theater, Kids Days will be Tuesday and Wednesday and include the showing of free films at 10 a.m.
The movie “How to Train Your Dragon” will be shown Tuesday and “Happy Feet” will be shown Wednesday.
There will be free inflatables and other activities from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Hillcrest-Bruce Mission event set
ASHLAND - First United Methodist Church will host a Fourth of July dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
There will be a barbecue dinner with baked beans, cole slaw and chips, drinks and cake and ice cream for a cost of $7.50 for adults and $3.50 for those younger than 11.
There will also be a silent auction and a men’s bake sale. Proceeds will benefit Hillcrest-Bruce Mission.

Library to show movie Wednesday
ASHLAND - The Boyd County Public Library will host its monthly Girls’ Night Out program at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday with the showing of “New Year’s Eve,” rated PG-13.
The movie will be at the main branch, 1740 Central Ave. Admission is $2 or a food item to share. Money collected will be used to purchase pizza and other refreshments.
Men are welcome, but the program typically involves movies not appropriate for children.
The movie stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Zac Efron.
