ASHLAND — Christmas sewing classes upcoming

WURTLAND

Three sewing classes are upcoming at the Greenup County Extension office.

‰Claudine Williamson and Audrey Boyd will teach a holiday sewing class from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 7.

Participants will learn to make an embellished redbird sweatshirt. Cost of the kit is $5; participants must bring a working sewing machine, a black or dark green sweatshirt with the bottom band removed and thread to match.

 ‰Judy Liles will teach participants to knit a scarf beginning at 9 a.m. Nov. 7. Class is free but participants should bring size 7 or 8 knitting needles and yarn.

‰Claudine Williamson and Audrey Boyd will teach participants how to make a quilted four-pocket tote bag on Nov. 8. The class is free but participants should bring a yard of quilted material with the pattern on both sides, an operable sewing machine and thread to match.

Seating is limited; to register, call (606) 836-0201 before Nov. 5.

OLBH will host blood drive

ASHLAND

Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will conduct a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 6 at Bellefonte Pavilion, 2000 Ashland Drive.

Donors should be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds and be in generally good health.

Giovannis Pizza in Flatwoods will provide refreshments for donors. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments can be scheduled by calling (606) 833-CARE (2273).

 

Local dance event scheduled

HUNTINGTON

The fourth annual Dancing with the Tri-State Stars will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

Local personalities will partner with area dancers for an evening of fun and competition. 

New this year will be a  presentation by the X-Factor dancers. 

Proceeds help Ebenezer Medical Outreach provide quality health care to uninsured in the area. 

Tickets are available at the Arena or ticketmaster.com.

OUS transfer info available

IRONTON

Ohio University Southern will have open house for students interested in transferring to the university on Nov. 13 in the Ohio Room, Collins Building.

Students may attend one of the following time slots: 2 to 4 p.m. or 5 to 7 p.m.

A campus tour will begin at 4 p.m.

Attendees will learn about the transfer admissions process and the many opportunities at Southern’s Ironton and Proctorville locations.
