ASHLAND —
An organ recital by Max Jackson is planned for 3:30 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church.
An Ashland native, Jackson, who is organist and choirmaster at the church, has undergraduate degrees in music from Georgetown College and the University of Kentucky. He also earned graduate degrees from Southern Methodist University in choral conducting and the University of Kentucky in organ. He has studied with William Holby, Lucille P. Bradley, Robert Anderson and Arnold Blackburn. He studied conducting with Lloyd Pfautsch and Paul Velucci.
Jackson has served as organist and/or choir director for churches in Kentucky, Ohio and North Carolina and has served on the music faculties of the University of Kentucky, Georgetown College and the Ashland Community College.
The program on March 25 will include sacred and secular works by J.S. Bach, Louis Clerambault and Cesar Franck.
An offering will be taken to benefit tornado victims in the area.
