ASHLAND — A local band calling itself “countrypolitan” is releasing its independent, debut CD with a party from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Ashland American Legion Post 76 ballroom in Ashland.
The Whipps are promoting their CD titled “Ghettobillies” at the party, which is free to all ages and includes a live performance by the band.
The Whipps describe the CD as hick-hop, countrypolitan sound blending country, hip hop and rock sensibilities.
Half of the profit of the CD and T-shirt sales at the party will go to the John H. “Jack” Fugeman Memorial Scholarship Fund, which awards two $2,500 scholarships to a son, daughter or grandchild of veterans at attend Ashland Community and Technical College.
Members of the band are Terry Lowe, drums; Ashland native Don Hanshaw, lead vocals; Eric Daniels, bass; and Ashland native Larry Collinsworth, guitar.
