Model railroad show scheduled
ARGILLITE
The 30th annual Tri-State Railroad Show and Railroad Collectors Sale and Swap weekend will be March 16 and 17 at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park.
The event will feature displays and exhibits, including large N, O, HO and G gauge layouts from Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky by the area’s most well-known railroaders, including those from the Huntington-based Appalachian Model Railroad Club and GO Track for children.
The highlight of the weekend will be the return of the outdoor 7 1/2 gauge operating live steam train rides offered by Joe Holbrook and Dog Saager of Lexington.

Vocal workshop March 12
WURTLAND
The Greenup County Extension office will have a free singing workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. March 12.
The session is open to any age and skill level.

set March 18
HUNTINGTON
Hospice of Huntington will offer the workshop “Gender Differences and Grief” at 2 p.m. March 18 at the downtown office, 1101 Sixth Ave.

John Howe Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Flatwoods branch of the Greenup County Public Library.
Guest speaker will be Judge Lewis D. Nicholls, who will speak about his new book, “Greenup County Kentucky A Historical Reflection.” His book will be available for purchase.

GOP women’s meeting Monday
ASHLAND
The monthly meeting of the Boyd County Republican Women’s Club will be Monday at JJ’s Restaurant on Rt. 60 and Rayburn Road.
Dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. with the business meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. The group will discuss the effect of the Affordable Care Act on daily health care.
Health screening set for Tuesday
PORTSMOUTH
Southern Ohio Medical Center will host Matters of the Mind, an event that offers free health screenings related to the brain and neurological system, at 6 p.m. Tuesday at SOMC FriendsCenter.
The event will feature cognitive screenings, hearing screenings, balance assessment, evaluations for risk of falling or stroke and presentations from SOMC physician specialists and nurse practitioners.
