Tickets available for rap concert featuring YG, BeeZy, Mac Carter and TK

ASHLAND — Ray Duckett wants to bring something different to the Ashland area in terms of music.

Duckett, who performs at YG, is organizing a rap concert, scheduled for 8 p.m. June 29 at the Ashland Armory at 2519 Lexington Ave. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door.

In addition to YG, the alcohol-free event will feature BeeZy, Mac Carter and TK. Prizes will be awarded and Worden Photography will offer photography services for $5; cost to have a picture made with a music artist will be $7.

Ashland Police Department officers will provide security.

Duckett said he’s organized five or more other rap concerts in the area and they’ve been very successful.

“There’s a big fan base for rap music here,” he said, even though there aren’t many opportunities to hear live shows. He also said he hopes rap concerts in the area will help build respect and support for artists of the genre. “I want to give young people a chance to get up and rap.”

While there is no alcohol allowed and the event is open to all ages, Duckett said some of the music includes explicit language.

“It’s up to parents if they want to allow their children to attend,” he said.
