GREENUP —
The dulcimer, a musical instrument with an Appalachia heritage, will be celebrated next weekend when the second annual Dulcimer Festival is scheduled at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park.
The event, set for March 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. and March 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Jesse Stuart Lodge at the park, will feature a variety of musicians. The event is organized by the Rail City Dulcimer Society.
Events are free. The festival includes dulcimer workshops and dulcimer vendors will be on site.
The schedule of events includes:
Friday
6 p.m. — Rail City Dulcimer Society
7 p.m. — Salleys Kids (hammer dulcimer)
8 p.m. — Tri-State Mountain Dulcimer Society
Saturday
9 to 9:45 a.m. — Open floor
10 a.m. — Braden Bunch
10 to 10:30 a.m. — DAA chording with Dan Mahoney on dulcimer
10:30 to 11 a.m. — DAD chording with Dan Mahoney on dulcimer
10:30 a.m. — Morehead Mountain Dulcimer Club
11:30 to 1 p.m. — lunch
1 p.m. — Beginning dulcimer lessons with Jeri Coburn, Ruth Hopkins and Rachael Harbour.
1 p.m. — Neil Koch, history of hammer dulcimer
1 p.m. — Learning to pick with Steve Justice
1:30 p.m. — Ashton Ramblers
2 p.m. — Tri-State Mountain Dulcimer Society
3 to 3:45 p.m. — Rail City Dulcimer Society
with Paws and Ann Stephens
4 to 6 p.m. — Jam Session
