Cardinal Valley Art Show set

ASHLAND The 2013 Cardinal Valley Art Show will be April 5 through April 26 at Pendleton Art Center.
An artists reception will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. April 4 at the center, during which time awards will be presented.
Entries into the juried show will be received from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 29 and 30 at the center. All paintings must be framed and wired (no metal hooks or sawtooth hangers. Art must be delivered by hand; no crafts will be accepted.
A nonreturnable fee of $20 entitles each artist to submit up to three works in any medium or combination of media. An additional fee of $20 may be paid for submission of three more works.
Participating artists must be 18 or older and submissions must be the original work of the artist and produced since Jan. 1, 2011.
Entry forms must be completed and identification cards completed and attached to the upper righthand corner on back of each piece of art submitted.
Categories include oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, traditional printmaking, pen and ink, drawing and mixed media. Sculpture, wood, clay and metal also are accepted; two-dimensional works must be no larger than 4 feet in diameter.
Cash awards will be awarded for first, second and third place, with additional merit awards in amounts ranging from $25 to $50. Purchase awards will be made as well.
Works not accepted may be picked up on April after the awards reception or from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 6. Accepted art must be picked up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27.

Hospice fashion show March 23
ASHLAND
Community Hospice spring fashion show and luncheon will be at noon March 23 at Bellefonte Country Club.
Fashions from A Boutique, Belk, CABI, Corbie’s, Foxxi Lady, Lara’s Bridals and Formals, Pink Pineapple and Wilma’s Dress Shop will be featured.
Proceeds will benefit Community Hospice.
Tickets are $35 per person. Group tables are available upon request.

Mental health
program March 12
PORTSMOUTH
Southern Ohio Medical Center will have a mental health in-service at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Gibson Building on SOMC’s East Campus.
The in-service will cover the topic of “Dementia with Behavioral Disturbances.” Featured speaker is Melissa Dever from the Alzheimer’s Association.
