Appointments for 32nd circuit and district

By KENNETH HART

CATLETTSBURG — Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed four new members to the Judicial Nominating Commission for Kentucky’s 32nd Judicial Circuit and District.

The 32nd District is comprised solely of Boyd County. The nominating commission will be tasked with reviewing applicants for Circuit Judge Marc I. Rosen’s replacement.

Rosen has retired and taken senior judge status. He is in the process of finishing out his docket and is expected to step down later this summer.

According to various courthouse sources, District Judge George W. Davis III is the only candidate to date who has applied for the circuit judge vacancy. If Davis is appointed to replace Rosen, the commission would also select a nominee for district judge.

The new members of the nominating commission are:

‰Jan DeLaney of Ashland, a registered nurse. She replaces Margaret A. Sampson, whose term expired. DeLaney will serve a term expiring on Jan 1 of next year.

‰Jesse A. Ross of Catlettsburg, who is retired. Ross is a former deputy Boyd judge-executive and Cannonsburg Water director. He replaces Kathy S. Felty, whose term had expired, and he will also serve a term expiring on Jan. 1.

‰Clarence E. Jackson of Catlettsburg, a retired Steel worker, former state representative and former Boyd County commissioner. He replaces Steven G. Stewart, whose term had expired, and will serve a term expiring on Jan. 1, 2012.

‰Michael A. Salow of Ashland, an engineer with AEA Inc. He replaces Anna M. Crawford, whose term expired. Like Jackson, he will serve a term expiring Jan. 1, 2012.
