Two separate motorcycle accidents in northeastern Kentucky on Thursday resulted in two fatalities, Kentucky State Police said.

The first accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on Ky. 1 in Greenup County. According to the Ashland KSP post, the operator of the motorcycle, Homer Morgan, 45, of the 500 block of Shackle Run Road, Greenup, was struck by a Ford Ranger pickup turning left from Ky. 1 into a driveway.

The name of the pickup driver was not released.

Morgan was pronounced dead at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. The KSP was assisted at the accident scene by the Little Sandy Volunteer Fire Department.

An Ohio woman was killed in the second accident at 8:15 p.m. on Ky. 7 in Elliott County.

Karen Propst, 65, of Lima, was pronounced dead at the scene by Elliott County Coroner Mark Lewis, according to a news release from the Morehead KSP post.

Propst was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by her husband, David Propst, 61, also of Lima. David Propst lost control of the bike in a curve, causing it to leave the road and his wife to be thrown from the passenger seat, the KSP said.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor, the KSP said.

The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Joshua Lawson.
