ASHLAND —
Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital recently donated 20 computers and related equipment to Safe Harbor of Northeast Kentucky.
The computers will be used primarily in a new computer lab for residents and their children. The lab is located in the newly renovated kitchen/cafeteria area at Harbor Hill, the former tuberculosis hospital which now houses Safe Harbor’s administrative offices along with 34 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments for former victims of domestic violence.
“After we went live on our medical records system last summer, we found ourselves in possession of computers we couldn’t utilize ourselves,” said Kevin Halter, CEO of OLBH.
“We wanted to find a home for this equipment in a way that would benefit our community, and there was a need at Safe Harbor that we were able to meet.”
Ann Perkins, executive director of Safe Harbor, said the timing of the donation was perfect.
“The timing for us at the start of school is a blessing,” Mrs. Perkins said. “It will give our kids an opportunity to do homework and moms who want to go back to school an opportunity to do online classes.
“Many thanks to Kevin Halter, Chuck Charles and Bon Secours for their great community commitment.”
