Fire at Grandview Inn

SOUTH POINT — An early morning blaze destroyed hotel rooms on the first and second floor of the main wing of the Grandview Inn on Saturday.

Some hotel guests had to be evacuated. The fire apparently started between 2 and 3 a.m. and was under control by around 6 p.m.

The Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department responded with assistance from South Point, Coal Grove, Chesapeake, Upper and Fayatte townships. There were 10 trucks at the scene from six departments.

The fire is the second at the Grandview Inn in three years. The kitchen and conference rooms were destroyed by fire in 2005.
