GED ceremony takes place in Lawrence County

LOUISA — The annual Lawrence County General Education Development diploma ceremony was held Thursday at the Lawrence County Community Center Auditorium.

Graduates included Brittany Accord, Martha Blackburn, Larry Brown, Koty Burchett, Timothy Cantrell, Rachael Cordle, Jason Daniels, Nicole Dipillo, Kerry Gordon, Meagan Hanshaw, Joshua Hensley, Jeremy Hensley, Robert Hughes, Clarence Kazee, Barbara Kitchen, Ashleigh Maynard, Duane Meade, Amity Napier, Brittany Nowakowski, Logan Pinder, Patrick Price, James Ramey, Daniel Ratliff, Paula Scott, Tosha Smith, Thomas Toy, Cody Williams and Shauntel Workman.

Since July of 2007, 29 people have completed GED requirements. More than 60 students and their families were to participate in the ceremony. All graduates received certificates, and special awards were presented to students with the highest overall scores and highest scores in reading, math, writing, social studies , science and reading.

Renaye Sparks, Ed.S. in Adult and Technical Education, and Director of the Lawrence County Adult Education Center was the speaker.
