Summit — Area hunting and fishing enthusiasts are invited to a sportmen’s dinner on Oct. 18 that will include wild game and a Christian message.
The event at Boyd County Middle School will include a presentation from a Lake Cumberland fishing guide and a champion turkey caller from West Virginia, as well as a local game warden with information about the region’s deer population and hunting season.
Author, speaker and avid outdoorsman Gary Miller will deliver a Christian message, said organizer Gary Arrington of Garner Baptist Church. Miller, founder of Outdoor Truths Ministries and writer of the Outdoor Truths column that appears in newspapers and magazines in 18 states, is a pro staff member for several outdoor companies, including PSE Archery, Mothwing Camo, Alpen Optics, Shiek Sports and Williams Custom Calls.
Attendees will have a chance to win door prizes, including a Liberty gun safe, a Viking deer rifle and a muzzleloading rifle. Mounted trophies will also be displayed during the event.
Arrington said the meal will include traditional entrees along with a choice of buffalo, rabbit, squirrel and venison, hinting that other wild game meats may be added to the menu.
Registration will begins at 4 p.m. Seating is limited to the first 400 to arrive. For more information, call (606) 928-2440.
