Lewis man killed in accident

Vanceburg — A Lewis County man died Saturday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Ky. 8, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Robert Bloomfield, 36, of Garrison, was traveling westbound on the state road when he apparently lost control of the 1997 Dodge van he was driving and went off the right side of the road, over an embankment and overturned. The vehicle came to rest on the railroad tracks below the roadway and Bloomfield was ejected from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Lewis County Coroner Tony Gaydos. The accident remains under investigation by Deputies Jason Hill and Gary Sparks.
