Architect on board for new Boyd high school

SUMMIT — The Boyd County Board of Education has selected an architectural firm to design a new high school.

The board chose Sherman-Carter-Barnhart of Lexington, in part because the firm understands the need to meet instructional needs, Superintendent Howard K. Osborne said.

The firm has done several projects in Northeast Kentucky; among them is the renovation of Paul G. Blazer High.

Among the first items on the design agenda will be information-gathering meetings with students, faculty, administrators and people in the community.

The district hopes to break ground sometime in 2010.
