PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky State Police say they are investigating the discovery of skeletal human remains in Pike County.

In a news release, state police say the remains were found Thursday in a wooded area by a nearby resident.

The Kentucky State Medical Examiner's office in Frankfort is investigating along with state police. Police say the remains were removed from the scene and are pending positive identification.
