GRAYSON — In their quest to bring a skate park to the city of Grayson, members of the Carter County Skateboarding Association have adopted a combination of images from two submitted logos to represent their organization and are planning a trip to a Louisville skate park.
Finishing touches to the logo will be added by a local print shop and used as part of their efforts to raise funds and design a skate park.
The skate park is proposed for construction behind the Carter County Detention Center off of East Main Street in Grayson. Group members have also been teaming up to offer ideas for a skate park in Grayson that will be part of the city’s Multi-Sport Complex.
The skateboarders will travel to Extreme Skatepark in Louisville on May 16. Area skaters who want to participate in the Louisville visit must attend a sign-up session with a parent or legal guardian at the First Church of Christ Family Life Center, starting at 6:30 p.m. May 14. Signups will not be permitted on the day of the trip, according to organizers.
New skaters are being encouraged to get involved in the effort to promote skateboarding and construction of the local facility. The CCSA’s next meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. May 21 at the First Church of Christ Family Life Center at the corner of Third and Pomeroy streets in Grayson.
