Gate City council to meet tonight
A special meeting of the Catlettsburg City Council will be at 6:30 p.m. today in Boyd County Fiscal Court chambers. The session will be a rescheduled regular meeting from Nov. 20.
The agenda includes minutes, bills, reports, payroll, a progress report on the old bank building, a report on new police cars, final approval of an ordinance to remove a parking meter, first reading of an ordinance to allow parking on sidewalks on 10th Street and a motion to repeal five ordinances.

Winners of band and float competitions for the Winter Wonderland of Lights Christmas Parade last week have been announced.

Train rides and visits with Santa in Central Park will be Friday through Sunday, Dec. 7 through 9, Dec. 14 through 16 and Dec. 21 and 22. Pictures with Santa will be taken in Ashland’s oldest home, the Log House. Both activities will be on the 22nd Street end of the park (across from King’s Daughters Medical Center’s main entrance).
Breakfast with Santa will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Boyd County Public Library main branch, 1740 Central Ave. Ages 12 and younger will be admitted free; the cost for an adult accompanied by a child is $3.
Karaoke and Pizza with Santa and trolley rides around Central Park will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Transportation Center at 99 15th St. The event is free and for ages kindergarten through sixth grade.
The Boyd County Public Library will have wreath-making classes for adults at the main and Kyova branches next week.
Boyd horticulture extension agent Lori Bowling will teach the courses at noon Dec. 7 at main at 1740 Central Ave. in Ashland and at 11 a.m. Dec. 8 at Kyova in the Kyova Mall, across from Elder-Beerman.
The library will provide the supplies. Registration is required and can be done at thebookplace.org or by calling Amanda Clark at (606) 329-0518, ext. 1140. Participation is limited to 15 at each location.
