Man found to possess drugs following his arrest

Police reports, 7/31/12

ASHLAND — The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:

Drugs

‰An Ashland man arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear was found to have cocaine and heroin in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Rashard S. Carter, 20, of Ashland, was charged with first degree trafficking in a controlled substance and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Theft

‰Mansbach Metal Company reported the theft of assorted copper and brass materials and machine parts, valued at $24,648.98. The items were reported taken from a maintenance building on the west side of the business between late June and early July. Police have a male and female suspect.

‰A woman living in Hillcrest Apartments reported Friday that a laptop computer and cell phone valued at $700 were removed from her residence.

‰Tri-State Industrial reported the theft of Milwaukee saw blades valued at $236.27. Police have a suspect.

‰A man living in the 2200 block of Pollard Road reported Saturday that his 1990 Toyota 4Runner had been stolen.

‰An man reported his sliver Mongoose Mountain Bike, valued at $150, was stolen while it was parked outside of Bruce Apartments.

‰A man reported his Cobra Arms .38 special handgun, valued at $150 was stolen from his bag while he was sleeping at a friend’s apartment following a party.

Burglary

‰Two Ashland men living in the 300 block of Ferry Street reported Friday their apartment had been broken into via a rear door, and a large-screen television, PlayStation 3 gaming console and 30 Blu-Ray discs, all valued at $1,490, were stolen.

Assault

‰A 50-year-old man living in the 300 block of 20th Street was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge Saturday following a domestic dispute, during which he allegedly slammed his girlfriend to the floor and drug her through their apartment by her hair.

  • 19-year-old launching one-man food drive, ‘Cans for a Cause’

    Never accuse Aaron Hannah of not being ambitious and failing to set high goals for himself.
    Later this month, Hannah, a 19-year-old 2012 graduate of Raceland-Worthington High School, will launch what is essentially a one-man food drive. His goal: to collect at least 10,000 pounds of canned food for River Cities Harvest to distribute to local nonprofits and churches that help feed the hungry.
    Hannah, who just completed his freshman year as a Bonner Scholar at Berea College, said scholars are encouraged, but not required, to do community projects designed to help the needy.

  • Westwood man charged with attempted murder

    A Westwood man was arrested on attempted murder charges following an incident Sunday night, according to the Ashland Police Department.
    Michael L. Thompson, 38, was charged following an investigation.
