CATLETTSBURG —
Police have arrested a man in Lawrence County, Ohio, who led Boyd County Sheriff’s deputies on a chase through three states Wednesday afternoon.
According to dispatchers at the Boyd County Regional Public Safety and Communications Center, the pursuit began just before 2 p.m. in rural Boyd County and ended in Lawrence County, Ohio. Dispatchers confirmed police had a male suspect in custody and that Boyd authorities were not assisted by other law enforcement agencies.
According to radio traffic, the chase began on Ky. 3 in the area of its intersection with Ky. 180 when two off-duty sheriff’s deputies observed a burglary in process, and began the initial pursuit of the suspect in their personal vehicles.
The deputies were joined by marked sheriff’s vehicles as the chase traveled to the intersection of Ky. 3 and U.S. 23. The suspect, driving a blue GMC Sonoma, then entered I-64 and traveled through West Virginia. According to witnesses, the chase at times reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The suspect then exited onto U.S. 52 in Lawrence County.
The chase ended along Buffalo Creek in Lawrence County, where Boyd authorities were able to arrest the suspect.
