Authorities seek store robber
SUMMIT - Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a Boyd County convenience store Tuesday night.
The holdup occurred about 10 p.m. at Clark’s Pump-N-Shop at the junction of Ky. 5 and Ky. 716 at Summit, the Boyd County Sheriff’s Department said.
The robber, who was wearing a black hooded jacket, a ski mask and gloves, entered the store and demanded all of the money in the register, the sheriff’s department said. The suspect told store employees he was armed, but it wasn’t confirmed that he had a weapon.

6 sentenced in Boyd Circuit Court
CATLETTSBURG - The following were sentenced on Wednesday in Boyd Circuit Court by Judge George W. Davis III:
‰Keith Dotson, 27, of Catlettsburg, to five years for theft.
‰Thomas Jones, 20, of Rush, to two years for theft.
‰Dennis Rigsby, 29, of Catlettsburg, to five years for drug possession.
‰Jean Jett, 28, of Ironton, to one year for drug possession.
‰Connie Kruger, 60, of Summit, to five years for promoting contraband.
‰Mark Riffe, 26, of Ashland, to two years for burglary.
Library movie nights scheduled
ASHLAND - The Boyd County Public Library will host two free showings of the animated movie “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.”
The movie, rated PG, is about a town where food falls from the sky like rain. It will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at the main branch, 1740 Central Ave.
The movie will also be the feature at the Second Saturday Screening program at the Summit branch at 2 p.m. Feb. 13. The branch is at 1016 Summit Road, across from Boyd County Middle School.
Refreshments will be available.
Other upcoming movies at the library include “Fame” on Feb. 17 at Summit and “The Time Traveler’s Wife” (Girls’ Night Out) on Feb. 24 at the main branch.

Blood drive Friday at fire station
ASHLAND - Area residents are encouraged to donate blood at the American Red Cross blood drive at the Central Fire Station, 11th Street and Carter Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
Donors of all blood types are needed daily, but there is ongoing high demand for O negative, A negative and B negative donors. The drive is sponsored by Scoutline Auto Parts and the Southwestern Community Action Council Mature Worker Program.
Other area blood drives will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at Ashland Community and Technical College’s College Drive Campus; the King’s Daughters Medical Center Occupational Therapy Center from noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 15 and the Kyova Mall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 20.
