King’s Daughters Medical Center is laying off workers today and closing at least one of its satellite centers, a hospital spokesman said.
Spokesman Tom Dearing would not say how many people are losing their jobs but said the cuts are across the board, including some physicians.
The Maysville cardiac center will close and a shuttle bus system will take the place of valet parking at KDMC, Dearing said.
Fewer patients, reduced Medicare and Medicaid payments and other factors forced the layoffs, Dearing said.
Patient care areas remain adequately staffed, he said.
