RUSSELL — The Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Diabetes & Wound Care Center has earned the Diversified Clinical Services Center of Distinction Award in recognition of its high patient satisfaction rates, healing results and clinical outcomes during the past 12 months.

The center also earned the prestigious Robert A. Warriner, M.D., Center of Excellence Award for achieving the aforementioned benchmarks for the second straight year. Both awards will be presented at a special ceremony June 30 at 4 p.m. at the center.

Out of approximately 300 Diversified Clinical Services wound centers nationwide, OLBH is among the 10 percent to achieve both awards. OLBH partners with Diversified Clinical Services, Inc., to provide specialized wound treatments at OLBH. Diversified Clinical Services is the largest wound care management company in the world.

“Because of the prevalence of diseases like diabetes causing non-healing wounds in our area, there is an increasing need for specialized wound care,” OLBH vice president of Planning and Professional Services Rod Hieneman said. “Our partnership with Diversified provides us with expertise and resources that set us apart.”

In the Tri-State area, many are suffering from chronic and non-healing wounds that can lead to amputation of limbs and dramatically impaired quality of life.  The OLBH Diabetes & Wound Care Center specializes in the treatment of problem wounds.

The center’s wound services offer relief from chronic, non-healing wounds through a variety of therapies and techniques  including debridement, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, dressing selection, special shoes, and patient education.  When wounds persist and resist conventional treatment, a specialized approach is required for healing.

“These awards are a true testament to the work we do at the center,” said OLBH wound care program director Kyle Dyer. “We treat each patient with the respect and compassion they deserve.”
