The main course is so fresh it is still alive, and tickets are expected to sell out in a hurry as organizers prepare for the Boyd County Medical Alliance and Safe Harbor’s third annual Lobsterfest at Bellefonte Country Club.
“We want everyone to come out and enjoy good food, friendship and dancing under the stars,” said Safe Harbor spokesman Debra Wright. “And, I know that folks really appreciate that no black tie is required. In fact, the attire is dressy casual.”
Local architect Vincenzo Fressola said he appreciates the opportunity to support Safe Harbor, eastern Kentucky’s domestic violence shelter for women and children, due to personal reasons from his own life. He also enjoys the chance to have a good time, while doing so.
“Personally I enjoy eating lobster and dancing on a golf course at the country club,” Fressola said with a chuckle. “It really is a summer social under the stars.”
The menu for this year’s event by award-winning Chef Chris Ross will include a choice of fresh Maine lobster with split tail or beef tenderloin with truffle demi-glace; Edamame cake; mixed green salad with spicy pecans, blackberries, tomato and gorgonzola cheese; baked potato; mixed summer vegetables and assorted rolls, with a dessert of New York cheesecake with berries. The evening’s festivities also feature a raw bar, vegetable trays, fruits, cheeses and an open bar.
The 2010 Lobsterfest will begin at 6:30 p.m. on August 21, with proceeds dedicated to Harbor Hill, which is Safe Harbor’s 34 supportive-living apartment complex.
Music for the evening’s “Dancing Under the Stars” will be provided by Ritchie Collins & Friends, as well as vocalist Rebecca Kloha Strand. Howard Harrison will serve as auctioneer and WSAZ’s Jennifer Ralston will be Mistress of Ceremonies.
“Clayton Hill will also be on hand with his fish tank of gemstones, some of which will be diamonds, which Pollock’s is so generously donating for the fabulous Gem Scoop,” Wright said.
Among the items up for bids during the evening’s live and silent auction include UK basketball tickets, UK football tickets, an iPad, Adirondack chairs, six weekly horseback riding lessons at the Ohio Horse Park, iTunes gift cards, a $620 Gift Certificate for Ashland YMCA, Timmy Woods original handbag, a basket of fine wines, a dinner for eight at Rocco’s, an iPod Touch, a demo dinner for eight by Chef Ross of the Bellefonte Country Club for 8, a day at the spa donated by Identity Salon, flight lessons, hot air balloon ride, Kindle wireless reading device and an Oreck vacuum.
Sponsorships, which include an advertisement in the program, tickets for the evening, and the sponsor’s name or organization included in a permanent display in the Harbor Hill lobby, are available at four levels—Lighthouse, Sail Boat, Row Boat and Canoe.
