The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:
Accidental death
‰ A tree trimmer was killed Tueday when he fell while working, police said.
Eric W. Luther, 35, of Ashland, was in the top of a tree removing limbs when he accidentally fell, according to the APD. The incident occurred about 2:10 p.m. in the 2400 block of Forest Avenue.
Luther, a self-employed tree trimmer, was pronounced dead at the scene by Boyd County Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Hammond.
Theft
‰ A man on Sunday told police he mistakenly left a shopping cart containing purchased items valued at $104.44 in the Walmart parking lot, and, that when he went to retrieve them, they were gone.
‰ A resident of the 1600 block of Elliott Avenue on Tuesday reported his lawnmower, valued at $279, was stolen from a walkway in front of his residence.
‰ A man was arrested after consuming a can of Red Bull, valued at $2.99, without paying at the Kroger store on Martin Luther King Blvd.
‰A man was arrested after taking two blue ray players, valued at $316, from the Walmart on Riverhill. The suspect carried the merchandise out the tire and lube section without paying.
Criminal mischief
‰The front window of Highland Carpet and Floor was broken out Saturday by using a brake shoe.
Burglary
‰A resident of the 1000 block of 29th Street on Tuesday reported a Nintendo Wii Game System, two Wii game controllers and a Nikon camera, valued at $410, was taken from the home. The victim said an unknown suspect entered the residence through an unsecured door and took the items.
Property damage
‰A woman reported that an unknown white male broke the rear window out of her vihicle by striking it with his hand while she was driving on the access road behind Hillcrest Apartments.
