GREGORYVILLE —
An 18-wheeler has destroyed the home of a local firefighter.
Justin Stone, a firefighter with the Grayson Volunteer Fire Department, and his family were not home Thursday evening when the truck came crashing through their house.
According to the Carter County Sheriff’s Department, witnesses say Wayne Walton of Texas was headed westbound on I-64 when his rig crossed over into the eastbound lane. He traveled for about half a mile before crossing back into the westbound lane, through the guard rail and about another 300 feet of embankment before crashing through the Stones’ mobile home.
Walton told police that he is a diabetic and had not been feeling well before the accident. He was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington.
CNHI report
The accident is under investigation.
