ARGILLITE —
Tickets are on sale for the Friends of Greenbo Lake’s second annual New Year’s Eve party.
The event, slated for 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the state resort park, will feature appetizers prepared by restaurant staff, DJ-provided musical entertainment, dancing, a silent auction and a midnight champagne toast. The party is open to all ages, and alcoholic beverages can be brought in by guests, but will not be sold.
Tickets are $30 for singles, $50 for couples in advance and $35 for singles and $65 for couples at the door. Partygoers are offered a discounted room rate of $49.95 at the lodge, but availability is limited.
To purchase tickets, call Bobby Allen at (606) 923-8800 or Deloris Bentley at (606) 922-3545. For room reservations, call Greenbo at (800) 325-0083.
Allen, chairman of the nonprofit group, said the party was a huge success last year, and organizers hope it will continue to grow each year.
“Last year, we didn’t sell out, but it was just an awesome time,” said Allen. “We had around 70 (partygoers) last year. We know it is a new party and there are a lot of other New Year’s Eve parties around the Tri-State. We are trying to develop this into one of the parties to go to.”
Allen said about 65 tickets have been sold; about 150 can be accommodated. Corporate table sponsorships are available at the $300, $400 and $500 levels. Corporate sponsors receive a table for eight at the $500 level and become official partners of the Friends group for the year.
Music will be provided by Bravo Live DJ and Lighting Extravaganza, he said. “They did the party for us last year and we got rave reviews,” he said.
Jesse Stuart Lodge has 36 rooms; at press time, 23 were available that night, according to staff.
The party is a fundraiser for the group, which strives to improve the park and attract visitors. The group continues to grow and is expected to gain 501-c3 status any day, according to Allen, who said there are about 15 to 20 active members.
