CATLETTSBURG —
Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway on Monday announced the arrest of a Boyd County man on child-pornography charges.
Thomas Sellers, 40, of Catlettsburg, was arrested Friday on eight counts possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, according to a news release from Conway’s office.
The charges against Sellers stem from an undercover investigation by the Ohio Attorney General’s office, which identified a computer that possessed images of child sexual abuse. A subpoena revealed that the subscriber resided in Boyd County.
Agents from the Ohio Attorney General’s Computer Crimes Unit referred their findings to Conway’s Cybercrimes Unit for further investigation.
Sellers was taken into custody Friday after the execution of a search warrant at his residence, according to the release.
Sellers entered a not-guilty plea at his arraignment Monday in Boyd District Court and is currently lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. Sellers’ next scheduled court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Aug. 1.
Since its creation in June 2008, Conway’s Cybercrimes Unit has launched nearly 300 child pornography investigations, seized more than 322,000 child pornographic images and videos and obtained more than 100 child pornography convictions. The unit is also a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
