ASHLAND —
Those seeking sweets or scares for Halloween don’t have to travel far to get their fill of either.
Zombies are the main attraction at Meade Station Plaza in Summit, where the theme is “Infected: Zombie Apocalypse.”
“It is an outdoor haunted house maze complete with zombies and other creatures from our nightmares,” organizer Kelly Collins said, adding the attraction will be open Wednesday through Saturday through the end of October, opening shortly after dark and continuing until around midnight. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children. Collins said the zombie-based attraction can be intense and has lots of fake blood, so parents should use their own discretion with young children.
The Downtown Russell Business Association is sponsoring two haunted houses, including one specifically for younger children. The Russell Middle School Art Club, under the direction of Tim Decker, will host the haunted house for little ones, and the Russell High School Art Club, under the direction of Jeremy Grizzle, will host the house for older guests. The haunted attractions in Russell will be open from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 25, 27, 29, 30 and 31. The haunting for the older children will be at 317 Ferry St., and younger guests will be hosted at nearby Beech Alley.
Trick or treat at the Central Park tennis courts will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30. The event with candy is hosted by the City of Ashland and King’s Daughters Medical Center. The event with activities for ages 3 through 12 includes musical pumpkins, a hay maze, a pumpkin patch, games and prizes. Admission is a can of food for River Cities Harvest.
Trick or treat at Ashland Town Center will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29, and Safe Trick or Treat at the Kyova Mall is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30. South Ashland United Methodist at 2203 29th St. will host its annual Trunk or Treat from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
Trick or treat in Ashland neighborhoods will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30. Several other area municipalities are expected to announce trick-or-treat times this week.
