Tickets still available for Cornerstone Awards luncheon

BELLEFONTE — Tickets are still available for Safe Harbor of Northeast Kentucky’s second annual Cornerstone Awards and 1,000 Women (and Men) luncheon at noon Tuesday at Bellefonte Country Club.

Cost is $45 per person. Sponsorship levels for the luncheon are Gold level/$1,000, Silver level/$750 and Bronze level/$500. In addition to a reserved table for eight at the luncheon, sponsors will receive additional recognition at the luncheon as well as on Safe Harbor’s upcoming Donor Wall in the newly renovated community room in Harbor Hill.

The domestic violence shelter and program will honor four individuals and one company during the luncheon, including Jim Cantrell and Marathon Petroleum, Lynn Couchot, Heather Van Deren and Dianne Clement.

The luncheon also will enlist the support and help of residents across the FIVCO area of Boyd, Greenup, Carter, Elliott and Lawrence counties as part of Safe Harbor’s ongoing 1,000 Women (and Men) fundraising efforts.

The campaign was formed more than a year ago to help raise funds needed to expand and renovate Safe Harbor’s Emergency Shelter. In 2011, the Federal Home Loan Bank awarded Safe Harbor a grant of $750,000 to help underwrite some of the costs of the project; however, Safe Harbor has to raise the remaining portion of the construction costs.

Over the past five years, Safe Harbor’s residential census has been more than double the number of women and children compared to previous years, and during the past three decades, Safe Harbor has provided a safe haven for more than 15,000 women, children and men.

Work is anticipated to begin later this year on the expansion and renovation.

The 1,000 Women (and Men) Campaign asks residents to make financial pledges to help underwrite costs of adding new bed space as well as new intake, counseling and group meeting areas. Pledges may be in the form of a one-time gift or may be spread out over a period of years.

To make a reservation or for more information about the fundraising campaign, contact Mary Hill at (606) 329-9304 or email her at mhill@safeharborky.org. You also may mail your pledge, contribution or ticket check to Mary Hill, c/o Safe Harbor, P.O. Box 2163, Ashland, KY 41105
