The 14^th Annual Cave Run Storytelling Festival wasn't hampered by a steady rain Friday as 3,600 school children from eastern Kentucky schools rotated among the three pavilion-size tents for stories about lions, troublesome adults and spirits from the Otherworld.

The event, an anchor for autumn festivities, is held each year on the Twin Knobs Campground, a peninsula that stretches into Cave Run Lake.

The first two days of the three-day affair starts with local storytellers trying out their material. The last day, today, will start at 9:45 a.m. And carry through the day to 10:00 p.m. With ghost stories and a bonfire on the Twin Knobs Beach.

19-year-old launching one-man food drive, ‘Cans for a Cause’

Later this month, Hannah, a 19-year-old 2012 graduate of Raceland-Worthington High School, will launch what is essentially a one-man food drive. His goal: to collect at least 10,000 pounds of canned food for River Cities Harvest to distribute to local nonprofits and churches that help feed the hungry.
Hannah, who just completed his freshman year as a Bonner Scholar at Berea College, said scholars are encouraged, but not required, to do community projects designed to help the needy.

Westwood man charged with attempted murder
A Westwood man was arrested on attempted murder charges following an incident Sunday night, according to the Ashland Police Department.
