Vascular checkups set in Portsmouth
PORTSMOUTH
King’s Daughters Medical Center will offer free vascular checkups to qualifying residents of Portsmouth and Scioto County during April and May.
Checkups will be available at 8:30 a.m. April 7, April 14 and May 12 at the King’s Daughters Medical Specialties building, 2001 Scioto Trail, Portsmouth. Appointments are required and may be made by calling (800) 377-5362.
The checkup consists of an ultrasound exam of the carotid arteries, which supply blood to the brain, and the abdominal aorta, which supplies blood to the lower body and legs. Participants will also receive a check of total cholesterol and blood pressure.
Results will be reviewed with participants immediately following the screening by KDMC vascular surgeons Omran Abul-Khoudoud, M.D., or Al Addasi, M.D.
Habitat house groundbreaking set

A groundbreaking ceremony for the first Greenup County Habitat for Humanity house will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the donated lot at 1304 Wheeler St., a block west of Argillite Road.
Open house set for adult day care
ASHLAND
The Boyd County Adult Day Care Center will have an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the center at 1409 Blackburn Ave.
Campbell team to have 2 meetings
RACELAND
The Campbell Elementary Culture/Universal Team will meet 3:30 p.m. April 7 and May 5 at the school.
Life Writing Class will start Thursday
ASHLAND
The Life Writing Class directed by John Patrick Grace, executive director of Huntington-based Publishers Place, will launch its 29th edition overall and first in Kentucky on Thursday in the board room of the Jesse Stuart Foundation, 1645 Winchester Ave.
The classes will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays for 10 weeks.
Participants may work on memoirs, essays, poetry or fictionalized life experiences into novels or short stories. Participants are welcome to bring snacks or beverages.
