GREENUP — A Flatwoods man has been indicted on a charge of attempted murder for allegedly beating another man with a baseball bat.
A Greenup County grand jury also charged Timothy A. Crouch, 33, of the 1100 block of Council Street, with first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery.
All four charges are Class B felonies that carry prison sentences of 10 to 20 years.
The charges all stem from a Dec. 19 incident in which Crouch allegedly struck Lonnie Hamilton in the head with a baseball bat, with the intent to kill him, according to court records.
Grand jurors also charged Crouch with being a persistent felony offender for having been convicted of at least one prior felony within the past five years.
A grand jury indictment is a formal accusation of a crime and does not establish guilt.
Others indicted by the grand jury were:
—Roy G. Fannin, 20, of Flatwoods, charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
—Shawn Grubb, 28, of Greenup, charged with first-degree drug trafficking.
—Gary Clinger II, 31, of Wheelersburg, charged with first-degree drug trafficking.
— Amy D. Pennington, 26, of Ironton, charged with first- and third-degree drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-offense driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance in an improper container.
—Amanda L. Coffee, 27, of Lloyd, charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
—Elizabeth Evans, 29, of Greenup, charged with one count of welfare fraud.
—Derrick Barker, 26, of Flatwoods, charged with one count of second-degree burglary and one count of theft.
