VANCEBURG — Two people have been arrested in connection with several thefts and burglaries in Lewis and surrounding counties.
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office arrested 29-year-old Michael Thomas and 30-year-old Andrea Thomas, charging themw ith first- and second-degree burglary.
Chief Deputy Johnny Bivens said the husband-and-wife duo have been involved in a series of breakins that started last week and continued up until their arrest. He said the couple could already be connected to at least 11 breakins and thefts.
Andrea Thomas was arrested at the Bee-Mart in Vanceburg on Wedndesay afternoon without incident. Michael Thomas was arrested in the St. Paul area following a lengthy foot pursuit that started in Black Oak.
Bivens said the pair are responsible for several thousand dollars of stolen items consisting of chainsaws, jewelry, firearms and miscellaneous hand and power tools.
